How do I confront him without scaring him away?

Basically I found out that he lied to me about something pretty big and it really makes me rethink my trust and feelings for him. We are still a very new couple and haven't had an argument or very deep conversation yet. I spoke to his friend and he told me a few things that I would like to talk to him about. But, again, we are still very new and I don't want him to think I'm a drama queen or something. But I just want to ask him what his feelings for me are and about the thing he lied about. But if it will scare him away then I will just wait... But I think his friend has probably told him that I am a little upset(maybe). So what should I do? How should I go about this?
