Iphone prob - Doesnt switch on..?

I was downloading stuff from the installer application last night when my iphone hung.. It has happened before.. Now im trying to restart by pressing the power and home on but it shows low battery. When i charge it it jus heats up and continues vibrating every 2 sec (without exaggeration) but when its off the dock it still shows low battery.. urgent help..
